Voting with Compassion: Why True Christians Should Reject the GOP’s Agenda

How the Democratic Party’s Policies of Caring for the Poor, Healing the Sick, and Defending the Marginalized Align with the Teachings of Jesus Christ

Hi Patrice, thank you for weighing in, but I find this approach somewhat naive and thoroughly discredited by history and recent events. The policies of endless welfare, open borders, free housing, and universal healthcare may appear compassionate, but they ultimately create significant harm for individuals, communities, and society at large. First, endless welfare programs can entrench dependency rather than promoting self-sufficiency, which is central to human dignity and productivity. Instead of lifting people out of poverty, welfare programs often disincentivize work and limit recipients' opportunities for genuine, long-term success.

Open borders and unrestricted immigration put immense strain on limited resources like education, healthcare, and public safety systems. While compassion for the stranger is a Biblical principle, true compassion must consider the wellbeing and sustainability of the entire community AND that person's long-term health and humanity.

Furthermore, socialist policies that prioritize state-funded support over free-market solutions ALWAYS stifle economic growth, reducing innovation and opportunity. History has shown us repeatedly—through examples like Venezuela, the Soviet Union, and even less extreme cases in welfare-heavy states—that socialism ultimately leads to stagnation, starvation, lack of freedom, and poor quality of life. Capitalism, with its foundation in free enterprise and personal responsibility, better aligns with Biblical principles by fostering individual growth, generosity, and stewardship. But that is only the economic side and needs to be matched by spiritual solutions and help as well (as we used to before the Federal govt swallowed everything).

In fact, the modern Democratic Party has veered so far from Biblical principles that it can only be viewed as a force in direct opposition to them. Abortion on demand at any point during pregnancy (ie the murdering of your own unborn child) desecrates the sanctity of life, stripping the unborn of their God-given worth. The sick push for gender-altering procedures on children undermines the belief that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made," designed with purpose. Celebrity obsession and idol worship are rampant, fostering empty values and false gods.

Worse, the party’s hostility toward Christianity—from DOJ targeting of parents and churches to restrictions on prayer—reveals a deeper agenda. It’s no longer about disagreement; it’s an outright assault on faith and the nuclear family, the bedrock of any society built on Biblical principles. This isn’t a difference in politics; this is an alignment with values fundamentally opposed to those Christ taught. If this path continues, it’s hard not to see who the real architect of their agenda is.
