I think if I didn’t have complete and utter faith in God and his sovereignty, I would be feeling pretty hopeless right now, in light of AI and its projected future and the fact that we might be on the brink of WWIII.
Btw, I appreciate your takes on the Iran stuff, Mike - I agree with it , it seems this had to to be done and Trump is the the leader to do it …. and I am also terrified of the open borders these last 4 years allowing potential sleeper cells into the US and about to unleash hell in our country. We are living in interesting times. I pray for our country, for my children and my children’s future children…..
Definitely scary times. Pray and prepare is all you can do right now. And I do think things 'get worse' (or at least seem worse) potentially in the near term, but this does set the stage for a broader peace if Iran is smart. Perhaps they lob some missiles at US bases in Iraq or take other steps. Escalation by closing the Strait of Hormuz or attacks on US soil would indeed take this in a much more serious direction. But again, the alternative, a Jihadist death cult that has promised to annihilate the US having a nuclear weapon is not a viable alternative either.
Think highly unlikely but anything is possible. Israel is monitoring these sites 24/7. If they saw equipment and materials being removed, they would have destroyed it. Also not my expertise, but I don't think you can just 'move' a nuclear plant (perhaps some material but even then I think it would set off radiation alerts). Stranger things have happened but I dont think Iran would be a trustworthy partner/negotiator after everything they've done the last decade and the risk that they would embarrass Trump by revealing the 'deal' is too great (and doesnt accomplish the main task of eliminating their nuclear capability).
People will debate whether this should have been done or if was constitutional. The bombs have been dropped and a real nuclear threat has hopefully been decimated and at minimum set back many years. My concern now is with retaliation by Iran or it's proxies/sleeper cells here in the US. There is no doubt in my mind that they are here. How are we going to be protected? A very scary situation IMO
I am a big fan of your articles and would say I agree with your ideas a vast majority of the time. I have to admit that I'm concerned that your ideas regarding US strikes on Iran may come to look overly optimistic, even naive in time. History has shown that airstrikes alone rarely accomplish much strategically. Look at the European theater in WWII for evidence of that. Are we really that confident in "bunker busting" bomb tech to think it will destroy the nuclear facilities? I have my doubts, but don't claim any special knowledge.
You discussed the quick victory of the first Gulf War "4 days" and yet we were forced to fly missions over parts of Iraq for the next 12 years to maintain control- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Southern_Watch. If it was so successful, why the follow up war in 2003. We know how that turned from quick "Mission Accomplished" to morass as well.
Operations that seem to offer quick fixes often lead to long term situations entangling us in an area. Who would have thought that an operation to eliminate al Qaeda bases and Osama Bin Laden from Afghanistan would last more than two decades. I know you don't think these airstrikes will lead us down this road, but I have my doubts.
I also want to know - Why now? Intelligence has been claiming Iran is a short time away from nuclear bomb for the past one, five, ten years at least. I think the deep state wants to pull us into another forever war and to bring Trump down. I fear his domestic priorities will lose momentum and his popularity will fall.
Iran developing a nuclear weapon could’ve been catastrophic—or maybe not. The truth is, we’ll never know how close they really were, or what might have happened had we done nothing. But doing nothing has a cost too.
Just ask Israel.
Had they not taken out Saddam’s reactor in 1981 or Assad’s secret nuclear facility in 2007, the Middle East would be an entirely different—and far more dangerous—place. Those preemptive strikes didn’t guarantee peace, but they did change the calculus.
Now, once again, a bold decision has been made. It might trigger escalation. Iran has allies. The risks are real.
Could it spiral? Could this be the flashpoint for something much larger?
Maybe.
But that’s what leadership is—making irreversible decisions under uncertainty with imperfect information. Acting not because the outcome is guaranteed, but because the cost of inaction might be far worse.
Right now, no one knows how this ends—not you, not me, not the media, not the president.
Only history will judge.
But waiting for perfect clarity is its own kind of failure.
And that's why more overwhelming preference was for Israel to handle. The risks are real, but from a probabilistic standpoint, I think Iran having nukes is a nonstarter. But yes, nobody knows if this was the right move without the benefit of some time. Appreciate your perspective Mitch and really hope the 'sane' modern Gulf powers keep making inroads and marginalizing the Iranian axis.
I agree with everything you've said here too, so I obviously have very mixed feelings about this subject. Either way, it's a better path than paying off Iran and betraying Israel at every turn like Obama/Biden did.
Agree brother. We wouldn't be anywhere near this situation if Obama and Biden had the slightest bit of courage and integrity. Iran was close to breaking when Biden came in and singlehandedly resuscitated the entire regime.

Just came across this. This makes sense. Curious what you think, Mike. https://x.com/mylordbebo/status/1936717300167487538?s=46

Good points! All we can do is wait and see what happens…thanks for writing these Stacks and giving us your perspective!

Wide open border for 4 years. Very scary indeed. Probably a good time to avoid crowded sports events, concerts etc for the next couple of weeks.

I say these things despite my support for Israel.
