Interesting week for the world.
Markets are still in the post-rate hikes pre-recession honeymoon stage where cyclical factors are causing markets to float north.
After all, who wants to sell stocks in December and pay the government in 4 months when you can sell in January and pay in 16 months?
Makes sense right, but as I’ve cautioned in prior issues, don’t forget to make some sales, as any capable pilot will tell you it’s time to buckle your seat belts as we head into an election year that’s sure to be peaceful yet fiery and my Q1 and Q2 prediction of a recession (there are no soft landings in severely overlevered economies).
This either resolves with a deep recession, or more likely additional painful inflation as the Fed gives up its battle and starts printing again.
On the bright side, Elon continues to rally the troops and stick his finger in the eye of the Regime. Whether you like or dislike him, every American owes a debt of gratitude to him for the enormous personal and professional risk he’s taking to defend free speech and the widespread dissemination of information (and even some occasional truth…).
Moreover, Musk's contribution to the business and technological world cannot be overstated. He has founded three of the most innovative and disruptive companies, revolutionizing multiple industries. While Steve Jobs' legacy is undeniable, Musk's achievements arguably position him as the greatest innovator and business mind in history.
His recent actions and statements further cement this reputation. In a way, his popularity mirrors that of Donald Trump - both figures resonate with the public because they offer a sense of honesty and directness in a landscape often muddied by deception, corruption, and manipulation. In a world where the truth is frequently obscured, and reality is distorted by those in power, the clarity and forthrightness Musk brings to the table are not only refreshing but essential. His approach cuts through the noise and challenges the status quo, making him an indispensable figure in today's discourse on freedom and innovation.
If you’ve been quiet, it’s time to get off the sidelines. We are in a fight for the future of our country and civilization itself. We have the numbers but the Silent Majority fails when they stay silent.
Don’t be afraid to speak up and circulate the truth.
Whether it’s the election, Covid, J6, open borders or any of the lies and intentional damage being perpetrated on our country and families, it’s time to take a stand.
Elon Drops the Mic
Perhaps the best moment of the week was watching Tony Stark Elon Musk drop the filter (and mic) and tell the audience at the NYT Dealbook Summit what he really thinks (full video in ‘What I’m Watching’ section below).
Elon has quickly become the #1 target of the Regime and their MSM water-carrying mockingbirds for his defense of free speech and rejection of Deep State disinformation and censorship.
The world’s richest man has literally, single handedly turned the tide against misinformation and censorship opening up debate again on his platform. Had Elon owned Twitter during Covid, it’s safe to say the devastating effects of the lockdown and MRNA vaccines would have been sharply curtailed.
When information is freely available and easy to distribute, executing psychological operations (psyops) becomes a challenging feat. This openness in information exchange hinders the ability of a select few - politicians, journalists, and their fervent supporters - to effectively deploy manipulative strategies and narratives. The democratization of information access acts as a counterbalance to these traditionally influential groups' control over public perception and opinion.
It seems some folks are scratching their heads at Elon Musk's brazen "Dear John, GFY" very public monologue to Disney. But really, it’s a classic case of not understanding the art of leverage.
Disney, bless its heart, is in a bit of a pickle lately. Ever since it embraced the woke culture, its once-mighty empire - movies, theme parks, you name it - has been somewhat less than stellar. In fact, they've had to admit, probably nudged by those pesky auditors, that their values might just be clashing with those of their customers. A bit of an "oops" moment for a publicly traded company, wouldn’t you say?
Now, let's contrast this with Musk's X, largely the plaything of the world’s richest man - a man who answers to pretty much no one but himself. He’s like the financial Houdini; he can wriggle out of losses far longer than Disney’s top brass can keep their corner offices.
By giving Disney the old heave-ho, Musk basically showed them the door and their misplaced sense of influence over X. It’s now crystal clear – X isn’t about to bend over backward for Disney or any other advertiser. This leaves Disney’s boycott looking rather toothless, a costly endeavor with zero return. If they continue this charade, they lose out on what is arguably the most crucial online ad space in the world.
Here's the crux of it: Disney can either stick to its principles or chase profits. But let’s be real, when push comes to shove, the almighty dollar usually takes the crown. Musk gets this. His critics? Not so much.
Here’s the clip that set the internet ablaze this week and left the audience and media poster boy Andrew Ross Sorkin speechless. Disney CEO Bob Iger was gloriously front row in the audience.
Elon’s powwow with Andrew Sorkin was nothing short of a spectacle - a veritable masterclass in the art of free speech absolutism, which I can't help but admire.
Putting aside the profanity and the shock value, Elon correctly pointed out the uneven playing field where platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, despite their myriad of equally if not greater problematic content, escape the wrath of advertiser boycotts. Meanwhile, Musk’s endeavors face a different tune, thanks to his role as a thorn in the side of the Regime and mainstream media.
Each controversy with Musk's name is a clickbait goldmine, incentivizing media attacks that lead giants like Disney to pull ads from Musk’s platform, despite their own questionable investments in platforms like TikTok (an absolute antisemitic jungle). It's a classic case of double standards and bowing to public pressure, rather than standing by facts.
In this relentless battle, Musk and his platform emerge as the final bastion for free speech and those who champion liberty. Should they succumb, we risk regressing to times reminiscent of when questioning the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine was taboo, or when the mere challenge of any decree from the powers that be was silenced, whether it be Ukrainian money laundering, Biden Family criminality, the J6 ‘Insurrection’ or questions regarding election fraud were once silenced.
Musk's stance isn't just about one platform or individual; it's a fight for the fundamental right of mankind to speak and think freely. His cause is one that merits our unwavering support.
The Grim Reaper sharpens his Blade
Interesting week as far as many of the world famous nonagenarians (90+) and even one centarian (Kissinger) have died in the past week. Charlie Munger, Henry Kissinger and Sandy Day O’Connor all passed away this week to mourning, applause and everything in between.
For my conspiracy minded friends, I know there’s an Adderall shortage out there, but is there an adenochrome logjam as well??
As long as the Grim Reaper is working overtime, can you please make a pit stop at George Soros’ dwelling while you’re out?
It’s long past time for this demon to meet his maker.
When it comes to Munger, there was a lot to like even if he wasn’t a fan of bitcoin (‘rat poison’ he called it).
I’ll offer him grace here as what do you expect from a 97 year old when faced with an exponential technology. I'm 52 and I can barely wrap my head around the disruption AI will have in the coming years.
You really can’t fault him for underestimating and misunderstanding a relatively complex and new technology. He was 97 when he started talking about Bitcoin. Most 40 year olds have no idea what it is or what it means for our financial system.
I wouldn’t expect a guy who spent a chunk of his life before television was created to grasp the intricacies of cryptographic secure, non-state based censorship-resistant money.
After all, Munger and his partner Buffett were famously late to Apple as one of the world’s most valuable companies because they admittedly, “don’t understand technology.” And that’s Apple, one of the simplest and most game-changing tech companies.
So I’ll give Munger a pass here, especially because some of the rest of his hard-earned wisdom is so damn valuable.
Where Munger truly shines, is his life experience and mental models.
Munger was more than just a financial guru; his wisdom, often delivered in relatable quotes and teachings, has been a beacon for anyone seeking insight into both life and the markets.
Today, I want to honor Munger by sharing five of his most impactful lessons that continue to resonate within the halls of investment.
1. The Endless Pursuit of Knowledge:
Munger believed in lifelong learning, famously saying at the 2017 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting, "I think that a life properly lived is just learn, learn, learn all the time." This principle applies to all aspects of life, especially investing. Whether we're navigating setbacks or celebrating wins, each experience is a stepping stone towards greater wisdom.
2. The Power of Reading:
Munger's commitment to reading was profound. He wrote in "Poor Charlie’s Almanack," "In my whole life, I have known no wise people who didn’t read all the time — none, zero." His belief was that reading broadens our horizons and sharpens our investment acumen. Whether it's macro trading or long-term investing, the key is to continuously feed your mind with knowledge.
3. Focusing on the Long-Term:
Munger championed a long-term view in investing. "The big money is not in the buying and selling, but in the waiting," he advised. This philosophy has personally rewarded me, like when my investment in Microsoft significantly appreciated over years of patient holding. Embrace the long-term approach for substantial gains.
4. Hone Your Strongest Skills:
Munger advised to concentrate on your strengths. He stated, "Patience can be learned. Having a long attention span and the ability to concentrate on one thing for a long time is a huge advantage." Identify your investing forte, be it dividend investing or seeking growth stocks, and excel in it.
5. Sharing Knowledge:
Charlie Munger believed in the power of imparting knowledge. He once said, "The best thing a human being can do is to help another human being know more."
Munger's legacy is a testament to a life devoted to seeking and sharing wisdom. He has left an indelible mark on Wall Street and on generations of investors.
As we continue our investing journeys, let's remember Munger's advice: keep it simple, stay informed, and always look towards the horizon of knowledge.
And if you’re looking for a little extra help, be sure to subscribe to either the free or paid version of my financial newsletter Alpha360 highlighting radical ways to build and preserve wealth.
Also, here’s a prior SovSun issue with some great advice discussing inversion, one of Munger’s best mental models.
And a bit more from Bloomberg on Munger’s life and one-liners.
Finally, here’s a video compilation of some of his best moments from the Berkshire Hathaway annual meetings and elsewhere. And yes, this has always been my impression of Uncle Warren and Charlie at those meetings (Statler and Wardorf).
More Jan 6 Fraud
As I’ve flagged in the preceding weeks, more of the “worse than 9/11” Jan 6 Fraud is making its way into the mainstream.
Speaker Mike Johnson made good on his promise to release some of the J6 materials and hidden video tapes and boy they are a doozy.
Let’s hold off on mentioning the deposition transcripts that were destroyed, an egregious felony that someone needs to be held accountable for and focus on just a small sample of the tapes that reveal what most common sensical and well-informed individuals already knew or suspected - the J6 ‘insurrection’ was a Fed driven plot instigated by reckless cops and the dozens (hundreds?) of federal agent dressed up as Antifa, MAGA and other protestors that day.
There are now independent videos of cops fist-bumping people they’ve ‘arrested’ and other Feds forcing their way into the Capitol, instigating violence and inciting people around them to riot.
There are also numerous clips of police officers engaging in illegal and outrageous excessive force and initiating violence against peaceful protestors.
Here are cops opening fire on peaceful protestors with tear gas grenades and laughing at it.
Here cops throw 3 concussion flash-bang grenades into a crowd milling around doing nothing.
Cops beating the hell out of protestors who are being pushed inside.
Here’s a cop shoving a grandmother down a flight of stairs.
Every cop that is on video performing these heinous acts should be prosecuted.
Every undercover agent should be required to testify about what he knows and did.
Every Congressperson that sat on the J6 Committee that knew about these tapes, that withheld evidence and knowingly promoted a false narrative deserves to be censured and kicked out of Congress (I’ll take tarred and feathered as an alternative).
If George Santos deserves to be expelled for lying about his background, then surely Adam Schiff, Jamal Bowman, Liz Cheney, Jamie Raskin and the rest of the J6 Committee frauds deserved to be removed for destroying evidence and perpetrating one of the biggest frauds in history.
Covid24
If you haven’t seen it, we’ve seen chatter lately of a new ‘superbug’ circulating.
Based on limited reports out of China of ‘white lung’ pneumonia (which is almost certainly no different from regular pneumonia just spiced up for media sensationalism) , the CDC and WHO were quick to sound the alarm and trot out all the same tired, useless misinformation they ran with last time.
Even charlatan and vaccine activist Dr. Peter Hotez (who refused to debate Joe Rogan or anyone else) is out saying this or a future ‘Disease X’ could be 20x worse than Covid.
Whether it’s a new strain of Covid, walking pneumonia or some other strain, no one should be surprised.
As I’ve warned for months (years?), none of the original perpetrators of the Covid fiasco have been punished. A handful of people and their NPC zombie supporters in the media and public health functionally destroyed the social compact, our economy and millions of lives and paid ZERO price for it.
Why wouldn’t they run the same playbook again? How easy is it to keep releasing new pathogens into the wild or just let the normal seasonal pathogens run their course now that 2/3 of the world has a compromised immune system from the experimental MRNA shots?
Until every single global citizen is dead, vaccinated, or safely imprisoned in a health/tech panopticon that will surveil and control their every move (vax passports, CBDCs, 15 min ‘smart cities’ and the like), they will keep running the same playbook.
The alternative is to hold these people accountable, Nuremberg 2.0 style.
Make them pay for their crimes and put their heads on a spike as a warning to future anti-human tyrants. #NoAmnesty.
Here’s more from Jordan Schachtel.
New 1st Amendment Violations and Govt Censorship (CTIL Files)
Earlier this year, we saw the Twitter files which extensively detailed outrageous First Amendment violations by the government in conjunction with Twitter, Facebook and other Big Tech censors.
Last week another whistleblower came forward and revealed the dastardly plan by US and UK military contractors to birth a massive Censorship Industrial Complex in reaction to Brexit and Trump election in 2016.
The recent revelations concerning the Biden administration's egregious overreach in pressuring tech giants like Google's YouTube and Facebook to censor speech during the COVID-19 vaccine rollout should deeply alarm every American. This is a blatant assault on the First Amendment, the cornerstone of our democracy.
Documents obtained by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan unveil a disturbing picture: the White House actively guiding Big Tech to quash voices that diverged from its preferred narrative on the vaccine.
The case of Facebook is particularly troubling. Nick Clegg, Facebook’s President for Global Affairs, expressed concerns in an email about the platform lagging behind YouTube in eliminating vaccine-hesitant content, following a discussion with White House senior advisor Andy Slavitt. This is not just about combating misinformation; it's a clear violation of free speech, with the government dictating what can and cannot be said on major public platforms.
The Biden administration went as far as setting specific censorship targets for Facebook, focusing on suppressing anti-vaccine content and targeting vaccine-hesitant audiences. This kind of government meddling in public discourse is not just unethical – it's unconstitutional. The First Amendment protects us against such overreach, and its blatant disregard in this scenario is a cause for immense concern.
These revelations are part of a broader, deeply troubling trend of the government colluding with tech companies to control the narrative and silence dissenting views. It's a dangerous path that undermines the very foundations of our free society. We must stand against such actions that threaten our fundamental rights and hold those responsible accountable. This is not just about vaccine discourse; it's about preserving the sanctity of our most basic freedoms enshrined in the Constitution.
Here’s Jim Jordan with a tweet thread laying out the deeply unconstitutional and pernicious plan.
And Michael Shellenberger of Twitter Files fame summarizing the whole venal plan.
Well worth the read.
Jack Smith - anyone liking a Trump tweet
Between the Twitter Files, the new CTIL revelations above and nearly everything we’ve seen from this corrupt and illegitimate Biden regime - the correct conclusion to draw is that it is all interconnected.
It’s part and parcel of a plan to weaponize law enforcement, intelligence agencies, Big Tech and any other tool they can find to marginalize and criminalize anyone and anything that doesn’t go along with their anti-human, anti-freedom plan.
Trump remains the biggest lightning rod and has borne the brunt of the attacks, but by no means is it limited to the former President.
As we saw with the J6 defendants, or meme maker Douglass Mackay who was just sentenced to prison for posting a meme (I’m still shocked anytime I write that), anyone who doesn’t bend the knee and submit to the Regime or is seen as an opponent is a target.
Special Prosecutor Jack Smith just dropped what little mask remains and subpoenaed Twitter for the records of any person that liked or retweeted any of President Trump’s tweets.
And of course an Obama-appointed judge granted the Special Counsel these sweeping surveillance powers on American citizens. This is a gross example of the police state at work and an attempt to build a database to marginalize, criminalize or isolate any Trump supporter.
It’s one of the wildest government authoritarian excesses I’ve ever seen.
We shouldn’t be surprised though.
Whether its the J6 revelations, the Covid psyop, Russia Collusion or the Trump prosecutions…it’s all lies. And when viewed in the proper frame, it all syncs and makes sense.
It’s all about power concentration into the hands of a ruling few. And the marginalization, isolation or destruction of anything that gets in the way of that goal.
I’ve written time and time again, there are only two paths forward.
One leads to decentralization, freedom, God-given rights, creativity and prosperity.
The other path is a spiritual death sentence that ends with digital slavery and a social credit surveillance state.
The window to defend and ensure the first path is closing. That’s what the battle for AGI and control over the AI platforms are all about.
When you can define and manipulate the ‘unquestionable truth’, you not only control the discussion, but you can make the rules and define unbreakable boundaries.
WestWorld played with this theme in Season 3 (worth a watch for the current societal implications alone). The elite and ultra-wealthy can do nearly anything. Everyone else is in a simulacrum, a matrix that gives them the appearance of freedom and upward mobility, but in reality 99.99% can never escape or climb strata.
The basic function of the AI system called Rehoboam in Westworld is to assign order to the world by tracking and then planning paths for every individual. It essentially keep humans on their pre-designed loops. “Tram lines” if you will to use the analogy in the series Devs, another brilliant dystopian tech drama.
This is a succinct metaphor for determinism, as depicted by the chief architect in the series. He visualizes time as being predetermined, like a tram strictly confined to its tracks. Trams, bound to follow these laid paths, cannot divert or make choices, such as veering off to interact with a friend we see along the way.
In this analogy, our lives are likened to trams, unable to deviate from a predestined route, illustrating the concept that our futures are similarly fixed and unalterable.
It’s a class hierarchical structure set in carbon fiber that can stretch slightly, but can never break to yield true upward mobility.
That’s the world we are quickly heading towards. AI, political dominance and genetic engineering will concentrate wealth, brainpower, longevity and power into total censorship of truth and will lock in and enshrine the elites as quasi-Gods on Earth, free from carbon limits, medical passports or any other restrictions the rest of us will face on our transit, health, finances and lives.
Not to scare you, but by my best estimates we are only 3 years away from this. Perhaps much longer if we manage to take back the Presidency in 2024. Without the Executive Branch and a Justice League/Avengers of the best America has to offer motivated to reverse the damage and anti-humanity of the past decade, things are going to get more turbulent and the range of possible outcomes will be less rosy.
We’ve got limited window to right this ship. It’s time for more urgency and focus.
What I’m Reading and Watching…
Elon Musk’s full interview at the NYT Dealbook Summit.
The Fund by Rob Copeland offers an inside look into the world of Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund. Copeland delves beyond Dalio's public persona of a benevolent business titan, cultivated through his best-selling book "Principles" and plentiful media appearances.
The book is interesting less as a narrative about Bridgewater and more about a character study of Dalio, providing a grounded perspective on how his Principles played out within Bridgewater, often with painful effects on its culture and people.
In Copeland’s recounting, Bridgewater, the world’s largest hedge fund with assets of roughly $97.2 billion, is described as an almost cult-like enterprise, based on a management theory of “radical transparency” that demands brutal honesty and continual assessments of fellow colleagues performances.
I’m not particularly taken back by the pain and sacrifice of the fund’s employees and leaders as most of the media has focused on. To build any great firm and lasting legacy of this size necessarily requires some hurt feelings and bodies. Just ask Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Stevie Cohen or anyone else that has succeeded at these levels.
That’s the most interesting takeaway from this book or Walter Isaacson’s bio of Elon Musk - the sheer amount of pain and sacrifice it takes to be legendary.
Admittedly, I don’t understand Bridgewater’s returns and have some skepticism regarding their climb to $180B or so AUM, but that’s a tale for another day.
Dalio Quote from Book:
“Here’s one of the principles, as an example: “Not all opinions are equally valuable so don’t treat them as such. Almost everyone has an opinion, but they’re not all equally valuable. Many are worthless or even harmful. So it is not logical to treat them as equally valuable. For example, the views of people without any track records or experience are not equal to the views of people with great track records and experience.”
This is the type of current societal blasphemy I’m down for because in today’s world, it’s also the reality.
Remember, we often dismiss questions that should be asked by resorting to maxims that are beyond reproach, even though a non-indoctrinated 5th grader would scratch his chin at the statement.
Such as “Every person’s vote is equal” or that “universal suffrage is a good thing.”
Constitutionally, that is the requirement. But does it actually make sense?
If you had 20 people stranded on an island and one of them was Elon Musk while 19 of them barely graduated from the Baltimore public school system, would you govern the island by Democratic “one man, one vote”?
The reality is the Founder’s had it right. Some people’s votes are worth more than others. To paraphrase Oliver Anthony, if you’re 5-foot-3 and 200lbs overweight living off fudge rounds, then perhaps you shouldn’t have the same level of say in choosing the leadership of the country as someone literate that owns a business, employs people and pays taxes. Just sayin’.
Now this is a touchy (ie cancelable) subject in today’s climate, but I’m past caring.
Our current ‘Democratic system’ has been failing miserably for the last 30 years and it’s collapse is happening at an geometric rate. It’s time to stop giving a you know what when it comes to diagnosing and fixing the problems.
It's high time we address these issues head-on, without tiptoeing around the uncomfortable truths. Sometimes, the most effective solutions aren't the most popular ones, but they might be what's needed to steer the ship back on course.
Here’s a 7 minute video about UNRWA.
Most Zionists know UNRWA is nothing more than a terrorist indoctrination system that cultivates jihadists and actively participates in acts of terror such as hiding weapons and rockets in UN schools and hospitals.
This is further proof that the UN deserves to be completely dissolved and all it's staff members fully investigated.
Excellent and fascinating thread on Rhodesia.
Agree here. Bitcoin is going to rip people’s faces off this cycle.
